This beautiful map, in the unusual size of small folio, is similar to the style of Ortelius. It covers most of France, except the south and Mediterranean coast, showing the coast, towns and regions. Fleur de Lys at the top right. Quad was a German cartographer based in Cologne,which, at the time was the centre for German cartography. He produced his ‘Europa’ in 1592, and his ‘Geographisch Handtuch’ in 1600
