A very attractive mid 19th century map of Japan with an inset at lower right of the port of Nagasaki. Above the map there is a view of the ‘Port of Simoneseke, flanked on one side by a picture of Japanese ‘Noblemen and Fishermen’, on the other a picture of ‘Japanese Women of the Higher and Lower Class’.

Very good condition. There is a closed tear at lower right, affecting the border of the map. Mounted size, 46.5 x 62cm
