Attractive map of area around Mauberge in France and Mons in Belgium. ‘Franciscus Hogenburgus ex archetypo coelabat 1572’ in the lower left corner identifies this as the rarest of the three plates of this region that Ortelius made. Van den Broecke surmises that ‘perhaps about 100 copies’ were printed. Ref: van den Broecke 69.

Very good clean condition. A closed tear to the lower16cm. of centrefold, has been well repaired from the rear. Good margins
