Interesting map of ancient Germany. The map covers a large area from Belgium to Russia, including the southern tip of Scandinavia. and shows forests rivers and mountains. Text in Latin gives the names of the ancient tribes - ‘Hermunduri, Gothini’- and territories - ‘Galliae’, ‘Germani Trans Vistulani’ . There is straight path through the forests of northern Germany and Poland to Russia, presumably a Roman military route. Ornamental cartouche with animals in a woodland scene.
