A beautiful map of the Molucca islands, showing their relationship to ‘Gilolo’, now called Halmahera in Indonesia. Once known as the Spice Islands, the Moluccas were first settled by the Portuguese in the early 16th century and later taken and controlled by the Dutch. Elaborate title and scale cartouches, rhumb lines, wind roses, ships and sea monsters.

Fine condition, good margins.
