Attractive map of the British Isles by the famed Swiss engraver Merian. Like many of Merian’s maps, it was based on a Blaeu map.It is about two thirds of the size of the Bleau, has the inset of the Orkneys at top right, but Merian has added his own attractive title cartouche, the royal coat of arms at right, compass point, and ships at sea.

Excellent condition. Mounted size: 52 x 43.5cm.
