Stunning lithograph from John Gould’s ‘Birds of Europe’, the first of Gould’s works to include work by Edward Lear. Gould, and his wife Elizabeth, drew and lithographed three quarters of the plates, Lear one quarter. The success of the work enabled the Goulds to move to Australia for two years to produce the ‘Birds of Australia’, and ‘The Mammals of Australia’. A scarce and much sought after plate.
Excellent condition. Framed size: 72 x 66cm.
