One of a set of four prints that originally appeared in the 1728 Atlas Novus. It shows a Colossus with a sword and sceptre. On his body and armour are listed the kings of ancient civilizations: Assyrian, Persian, Greek and Roman, whilst on the legs are listed the monarchs of the eastern and western empires. Imaginary beasts symbolising the main monarchies are shown on either side of the figures.
The centrefold is a little creased at right edge. Cropped close to edge of plate. Very good condition
