Bird’s eye view of the Belgian town of Liege, as it was in the mid seventeenth century, showing all its streets, buildings waterways, and l surrounding fields. The view was originally published by Merian in his Topographia, and later incorporated into Gottfried’s Archontoligica. Born in Basel, Switzerland, Merian spent most of his life in Frankfurt where he met and married Theodore de Bry’s daughter.

Slightly darkened at centrefold and top margin. Otherwise very good condition.
