This superb engraving shows a section from Carracci’s famous decoration of the Galerie Farnese in Rome. The central panel shows the sleeping Endymion being seduced by Selene the moon goddess. This panel is flanked by several figures and two smaller round panels, one depicts Eurydyce with his lyre, the other shows Europa on the back of a bull.
A crisp clean impression. Fine condition. Mounted and framed. Framed size: 97.5 x 58.5cm.
