Vue d’optique of the north bank of the River Thames showing the Custom’s House and the Tower of London in the distance. Boats on the river are unloading at the quayside. Characteristic reversed text runs along the top of the image. These perspective views were intended for use in an optical diagonal machine. When the spectator looks at perspective views through the lens of the viewing machine, an illusion of recession is produced.

Small hole (2mm) at lower centre. Very good condition. Mounted size: 58.5 x 45cm.
