THEATRE dresse dans L’EGLISE de St. PIERRE pour la CANONISATION de Quelues SAINTS sous le pontificat de CLEMENT XI en 1712

An elaborate view of the interior of St. Peter’s Church in Rome, during a ceremony for the canonisation of saints in 1712. The pope sits on his throne at centre under a huge ornate canopy surrounded by the officers and dignitaries of the papal court. A key along the lower edge, lists the people involved.

Evenly and slightly darkened, but a clean engraving. Lower and left edges have been remargined. Margin a little chipped at top right. Very good condition.
