Fascinating map, very detailed, but distorted, showing the explorations between Alaska and Siberia. The routes of Captain Cook and Bering are shown. Numerous depth soundings in the Bering Straits. The north coast is shown with a dotted line, except for the explorations of Mackenzie along the Mackenzie River. The New General Atlas was one of the most accurate and best produced atlases of the day. Thomson’s ‘County Atlas of Scotland’ is generally considered the finest of its kind.
Some offsetting, very good condition.
