This beautiful print, engraved from drawings by the French hydrographer, Bellin, shows a shipyard in operation, with a partly constructed ship in the background, a dry dock in the foreground, and an observation platform to the left. This print depicts a hive of activity, with many workers engaged in all stages of ship making. A fascinating insight into eighteenth century ship building.
