A pair of circular hemisphere maps, unusually centred on London. The southern hemisphere map is nearly centred on New Zealand, showing that it almost directly opposite to London on the globe. The routes of the most important 18th century explorers are shown. Thomson’s New General Atlas was one of the best produced atlases of the day. His ‘County Atlas of Scotland’ is generally considered the finest of its kind.
