Attractive view of Corfu Town in the mid-seventeenth century, with the Old and New Forts dominating the fortified islet, and several large rowing galleys in the harbour. The view was originally published by Matthew Merian in his Topographia, and later incorporated into Gottfried’s Archontoligica. Born in Basel, Switzerland, Merian spent most of his life in Frankfurt.

Slightly darkened at centrefold. In very good condition.
