This magnificent map of the Eastern Seaboard, extends from New York and "New Jarsey" to South Carolina and west to Lake Erie. To the south, as with many maps of the time, is the large mythical lak ‘Apalache Lacus,.The map first appeared in Homann's Atlas Novus, 1714, and appeared in a number of other atlases during the eighteenth century. The elaborate cartouche, uncoloured, includes images of European merchants trading with the Indians, an open drying shed; below a large fish, an alligator and a horse.
Very good condition. Repair to closed tear on lower margin.
