A handsome map of both Americas, showing the extent of exploration in the mid eighteenth- century, with the outline of the continents complete except for the unexplored north-west of North America. Simple but attractive title cartouche at upper left. Emmanuel Bowen was one of the leading English mapmakers of the eighteenth-century, and was unusual in that he was cartographer to both the French and English Royal Courts.
