Fine ornamental cartouche, containing title flanked by cartographers, secondary cartouche has two scales. Four ships at sea, ornamental compass and Neptune riding a sea Monster. North is to the right of map. Secco produced the first map of Portugal, it was also copied by Ortelius, De Jode and Bleau. This item is nearly identical to Bleau’s version
Very good condition, good margins, a few light brown stains on left margin, not affecting map, closed tear on tight margin expertly restored from rear
