Sumptuously illustrated title page from Homann’s Atlas Novus. Two giants stand upon a globe, holding up the heavens, a flock of birds fly amongst sunrays, owls and other birds of the night fly in the moonlight at upper right. Four figures blow winds against the globe. In the foreground Neptune, with his trident and Hermes with his winged helmet and cadduceus, talk to a seated man. Along the lower edge is the title and imprint of the atlas.
