Handsome twin hemisphere Mappe Monde coloured by country. Like most of Chatelain’s maps, there is a huge amount of additional information displayed - tables above and below the map list the principal countries rivers, mountains, lakes etc., title along top edge. ‘Chatelain’s Atlas Historique, was a major work of its time, The text was by Nicholas Gueudeville’ (Ref: Moreland and Bannister, p.132.)

Very good condition. The map itself is crisp and clean, closed tear on lower margin. Two minute holes where map was folded above “Terres Arctiques” and “Mer Glaciale”. Mounted size 86 x 69cm.
