This magnificent print is a superb example of early printed colour. It was published in Alexandre Laborde's 'Description d'un Pave en Mosaique'. This book documented the discovery of the mosaic floor of a Roman villa, found in the village of Santiponce near Seville. This print shows in immaculate detail, four of the roundels (two containing portraitsof the muses Euterpe and Clio, one with a centaur inside) that make up part of the floor.
Excellent condition. Good wide margins. Some light spotting on margins, not affecting image.
