This magnificent print is a superb example of early printed colour. It was published in Alexandre Laborde's 'Description d'un Pave en Mosaique'. This book documented the discovery of a mosaic floor of a Roman villa, found in the village of Santiponce near Seville. This print shows two roundels, one containing a horse the other, a person with some parts missing. Surrounding the roundels are various bits of plants and a blue bird, probably a dove.
Very good condition. Good wide margins. Waterstain on left hand margin, not affecting image.
