Frances, Duchess of Suffolk and her Husband, Adrian Stokes

Handsome portrait of Frances Brandon with her second husband, Adrian Stokes, a steward fifteen years her junior, whom she married three weeks after the execution of her first husband, Henry Grey. She was the daughter of Mary Tudor, sister of Henry VIII, and mother of Lady Jane Grey, the nine day queen. Title along lower edge. This engraving is based on a painting, then in the possession of Horace Walpole.
