Beautifully detailed engraving of two armies facing each other before battle. Mary, Queen of Scots and Lord Bothwell’s army is perched on a hilltop at upper right, the rebel army is on the plain below, and Mary rides out towards them to surrender, while Bothwell escapes. Edinburgh is shown at lower left. Title on a banderole along lower edge, with emblematic design with crown, arms unicorn and an eagle. The whole is contained within a frame with Latin text running along the edges.
