Charming original artwork for the first edition of this parody of Lewis Carroll’s Alice books by F.W.Martindale. Pen and ink, watercolour and body-colour painting on card, matted. Signed by maritime artist Frank Mason and by Noel Pocock. A fine collaboration between the two artists, Mason was responsible for the sea and landscapes, and Pocock for the figures. We are pleased to be able to offer 4 of these watercolours from the original 14 published. They were all adapted from Tenniel’s illustrations for the two Lewis Carroll Alice books. Colour photocopies of the same artwork and of the text it illustrated from the first edition on the back of the frame.

Fine condition. Framed size 50.5 x 41cm.
