A very attractive map of eastern North America with galleons in the sea and native Americans hunting various animals on land. The Mississippi Basin is shown in detail, though a little conjectured. One inset showing the coastline of Louisiana from Ascension Bay to St. Joseph's Bay, and another, beautifully decorated, showing a plan and view of Quebec. Chatelain's seven volume Atlas Historique was one of the major works of its time, and included his famous four part map of America ' Carte tres Curieux de la Mer du Sud' also in this catalogue
In very fine condition
