The Great River MARANON or of the AMAZONS Geographically describ’d by Samuel Fritz, Missioner on the Said River.

This map could have been reproduced for the Bonne Atlas after it was originally produced by Frizt circa 1684. Fritz was a Jesuit missionary noted for his exploration of the Amazon river. It shows what is now known as the Amazon river from it’s sources and tributaries including Cusco in Peru to Quito in Equador to it’s end at the Atlantic Ocean. A library stamp on the reverse shows slightly through.
