Delisle was an important French cartographer of the early 18th century. He held the position of First Royal Geographer to the King. A map of the north western part of Africa with the Cape Verde islands in the far west off the coast. Barbary (the countries of North Africa now known as Morocco, Algiers, Tunis and Tripoli) are shown as well as Guinea and and area called Nigritie that now incorporates many different countries today.
Good condition - brown staining near centre-fold, slight dark patches in lower corner margins and top margin has colour from the reverse showing through. Repaired tear just off centrefold on lower margin and into image slightly.
