Delisle was an important French cartographer of the early 18th century. He held the position of First Royal Geographer to the King. An interesting map of what was known as Persia. From Russia in the north to the Persian Gulf in the south and Syria in the west to modern day Afghanistan in the east. Interestingly the region of Mecran (Balochistan) in modern day Iran and Pakistan is described as being populated by a ferocious and war-like people.
Very good condition - lower corner margins slight dark patches and slight browning to centre-fold.
