Delisle was an important French cartographer of the early 18th century. He held the position of First Royal Geographer to the King. An interesting map with the Arabian peninsula in the centre with the Middle East; North Africa; Asia and southern Europe surrounding it. The map extends from Spain in the west to modern day Pakistan and the Black Sea in the north to Abyssinia (modern day Ethiopia) in the south. An ornate carouche surrounds the title lower left with characters from the east. An interesting scale above this compares Italian, Arabic, Egyptian, Persian and French measurements.

Good condition - lower corner margins slight dark staining.
