HEMISPHERE OCCIDENTAL & HEMISPHERE ORIENTAL (pair)

Delisle was an important French cartographer of the early 18th century. He held the position of First Royal Geographer to the King. This attractive pair of map mondes has the Western Hempishere on one map showing North and South America as well as New Zealand and the Solomon islands in the west and Greenland and the Cape Verde islands in the east. The Eastern Hemisphere on the other map shows Europe, Africa and Asia. Both maps have fascinating explorers’ tracks engraved on and extend to the Arctic and the Antarctic regions.

Very good condition - corner margins slightly marked but not affecting image. Very minor off-setting
