Delisle was an important French cartographer of the early 18th century. He held the position of First Royal Geographer to the King. Two interesting and richly detailed marine maps showing the Caspian sea with all it’s tributary rivers and surrounding lands. The first is a map of the northern part of the Caspian Sea with three insets. One the mouth of the river Koura; another of the Rade D’Abscharon and the other of the Golf of Baka. A note in a decorative cartouche upper right explains the scales and distances. The second map shows the southern part of the Caspian Sea with six important insets of the mouths of the rivers Astara; Sebdoura and Kroudosel and the Golf of Sinsilen and the Golf of Astrabat and the final insert is a scale.
Overall both maps in very good condition - 2nd map has ink off-setting in upper margin and both maps have minor off-setting on image. Lower corner margins slight dark patches.
