These engravings by Aquila are after Annibale Carracci’s wall frescoes in the Gallery in Palazzo Farnese in Rome, commissioned by Cardinal Odoardo Farnese, begun in 1597. This superb engraving shows Pietro Aquila’s dedication leaf incorporating a medallion portrait of the dedicatee, Francisco Mariae Phoebeo, titular archbishop of Tarsus.
