Clear and accurate map of early nineteenth century France, coloured by province. Three scales at lower left, below the title. John Cary was considered 'the most representative, able and prolific of English cartographers'. Tooley says, 'As an engraver he was elegant and exact with fine clear lettering and great delicacy of touch'. When the Ordnance Survey began accurately mapping the UK, they used John Cary's style as the basis for their work.

Very good condition; some stains to the margins, not affecting the image.
