Fabulous engraving of a bactrian Camel from one of the finest examples of eighteenth century french natural history illustration.. The prominent french naturalist Bernard-Germain-Étienne de La Ville-sur-Illon, comte de Lacépède 1756-1825 compiled ‘La Menagerie du Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle’, a catalogue of the various species of quadrupeds, reptiles and amphibians in the impressive collection of the zoo attached to the Museum of Natural History where he was professor of zoology.
Very good condition,slight browning around edge of paper not affecting image.
